Everyone knows that the construction progress of the tunnel is not very fast, especially the construction of the geomembrane or waterproof board, which is very difficult and cannot be laid much every day. Why is the construction of tunnel waterproofing panels so difficult? There are mainly the following reasons.
The construction of tunnel waterproof board is difficult compared with the installation of geomembrane for other kind of project. The tunnel waterproof board is laid on the top of the tunnel. Workers must work with their heads up when laying, which is very awkward, so when laying, the progress is very slow. It's also strenuous. The quality of the tunnel waterproof board is very heavy.
Generally, a 1.5mm waterproof board is used. If it is 3 meters wide and 20 meters long, the weight of a roll is nearly 100 kilograms. Also, in the tunnel, some lifting machinery cannot be constructed. It's too hard to rely on the workers to lift it up.
There are two kinds of suspension of the tunnel waterproof board, one is fixed with hot-melt gaskets, and the other is a sling. Both methods of suspension are quite time-consuming and labor-intensive.
