What are the factors affecting the service life of the geomembrane?

17-07-2024

The main factors affecting the service life of geomembrane are as follows:

Material quality: high-quality raw materials and advanced production processes can make the geomembrane more durable. Low-quality materials may be prone to aging and rupture. Use environment: such as pH, temperature change, ultraviolet radiation intensity, etc. Homembranes are vulnerable in a strong acid and alkali environment or during prolonged exposure to strong sunlight. Construction quality: whether the welding and laying in the construction process are standard. If there are loopholes, folds or welding is not firm, it will shorten the service life of welding. External force damage: including artificial excavation, puncture, and the extrusion caused by geological changes. Chemical erosion: Some chemicals may react with the geomembrane to reduce their performance.

For example, in open landfills, strong ultraviolet light and chemicals in garbage will accelerate the aging of geomembrane; and in construction, if the welding is uneven, it is easy to become a weak point, leading to rupture.
