Classification type of geotechnical materials
Geotechnical materials include many types, which can be mainly divided into the following categories:
1 Geotextile: This is a kind of polymer as the main raw material, through different woven, weaving or nonwoven processes processed into the material. It has the functions of drainage, filtration, isolation, strengthening and protection.
2 geomembrane: this kind of material is usually made of polymers such as polyethylene (PE), polyester (PET), etc., used in the soil inside, surface or between different soil, to play a strengthening or protective role.
3 Geogrid: This is a structured geotechnical material, common in fiberglass geogrid, etc., used to provide additional reinforcement and support.
4 Drainage board: This kind of material is used in drainage system to help the water flow smoothly from the soil.
5 composite geomembrane: This is a geomembrane combining a variety of materials, with better performance and durability.
6 Geotechnical network: This is a flat network of geosynthetic material, formed by extrusion or hot bonding, used to strengthen and protect the soil.
7 Geotechnical chamber: This is a structured material used to reinforce and protect the edges of the soil.
8. Bentonite waterproof blanket: this is a kind of waterproof product using bentonite as the main material, suitable for occasions requiring high waterproof performance.
9. Other special materials: such as polystyrene foam plastic, these materials usually have specific functions, such as heat insulation, sound insulation, etc.
These materials are widely used in civil engineering to strengthen, protect and improve the properties of the soil.
